Applying for your Nigerian passport is now a streamlined, fully digital process designed around a single, unified identity. By ensuring your NIN details match perfectly, you can easily navigate the online portal from registration to booking your biometric appointment.
Step 1
Proceed to the Official Website
1. Go to the NIS website 2. Choose where you are applying from and select the application you want 3. Fill in your National Identification number, Date of Birth and the autogenerated captcha to confirm your identity

Complete Data Field as Required
1. You will select where you want your passport processed, the booklet type, and the processing office. 2. The options selected will determine the fees to be charged for the passport

Document Upload
Upload your photograph passport and other supporting documents

Biometric Capturing
After completing all online application requirements, applicants are expected to go to the selected office for biometric capturing after 24hours

Track the Application Process
After biometric capturing, the application can track the application process using the applicants number and reference number provided by the immigration portal

Collection
Your passport is ready for pickup—please present your collection slip at the passport office to collect it.
Requirements for Nigerian Passport
Be a Nigerian Citizen
Have a National Identity Number and passport photographs that meets ICAO standards
ICAO standards are as follows
The image should be 2 inches by 2 inches
The image should have adequate brightness and contrast and the skin tone should be natural
Birth Certificate
Have a birth certificate and local government certificate of indigeneship, before proceeding to the portal for registration
