Nigerians' Assocciation in Wuhan

The Nigerians’ Association in Wuhan (NAW) successfully hosted its Graduation and Appreciation Ceremony on 20 June 2026 at Yilong Hotel, Jiedaokou, Wuhan, bringing together members of the Association, graduating students, invited guests, friends of Nigeria, and members of the international community for an afternoon of celebration, appreciation, networking, and professional development.

The event was organized to celebrate the academic achievements of Nigerian students completing their studies in Wuhan while recognizing the outstanding contributions of past executives, sportsmen, and individuals who have contributed to the growth and unity of the Association.

The ceremony commenced with an opening address by the President of the Nigerians’ Association in Wuhan, Dr. Moses Kayode, who welcomed guests and congratulated the graduating students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journeys. He emphasized the importance of unity, leadership, and continued collaboration among Nigerians in Wuhan while encouraging graduates to remain worthy ambassadors of Nigeria wherever life takes them.

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of members who successfully completed their postgraduate studies. The Association proudly celebrated the achievements of the following graduates:

These graduates, who completed Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes in various disciplines, were presented with certificates of recognition in appreciation of their academic excellence and their contributions to the Nigerian community in Wuhan.

The Association also honored former executives and sportsmen for their dedication, commitment, and selfless service. Their leadership and contributions over the years have helped strengthen the Association and foster unity among Nigerians living in Wuhan.

One of the defining moments of the ceremony was the highly informative guest lecture delivered by Dr. Rice Kajila. His presentation focused on opening a company in China, work and business visa opportunities, and practical guidance for international graduates seeking to build successful careers and businesses in China. The lecture was engaging, practical, and well received, providing attendees with valuable insights into entrepreneurship, legal requirements, and post-graduation opportunities available in China.

The event also created an excellent platform for networking, allowing graduating students, current students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and invited guests to exchange ideas, build relationships, and explore future collaborations. Friends of Nigeria and representatives from different backgrounds joined in celebrating the achievements of the graduates, reflecting the inclusive and multicultural spirit of the occasion.

No Nigerian celebration is complete without great food, and guests were treated to a delicious selection of authentic Nigerian cuisine. The menu featured crowd favorites including Egusi Soup and Nigerian Jollof Rice, providing attendees with a memorable taste of home while creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere for fellowship.

Throughout the ceremony, participants reflected on the importance of education, service, and community. The event celebrated not only academic excellence but also the resilience, determination, and achievements of Nigerians pursuing higher education abroad.

Speaking at the conclusion of the programme, the Secretary of the Association expressed appreciation to the organizing committee, volunteers, invited guests, sponsors, and every member whose dedication contributed to the success of the event.
